What to Wear to Graduation

Graduation season is upon us and the question “What do I wear?!” begins to linger. Deciding what to wear to graduation can be challenging given the dress code, school colors, comfort, etc. We’ve all been there before as the graduate and the guest! Keep reading to see our top picks this season.

For the graduate

Am I the only one who REALLY struggled to find the perfect dress and shoes for my graduation ceremony?! I found the perfect shoes one hour before my ceremony because I couldn’t find anything that fit the dress code and was comfortable. I was off the hook for my college graduation ceremony because #2020covidgrad but I still have some suggestions for you lol!

Antonio Melani Short Bubble Sleeve Tiered Flounce Dress

My sister wore this dress to her graduation ceremony last year and it was GORGEOUS!! The perfect length and opacity. I love when graduates wear white under their robes! If you’re debating on which dress to buy- this is the one. So, so cute.

Ignite Evenings Short Sleeve Midi Dress

Okay, I’m not sure what too fancy looks like because that just simply doesn't exist in my world (better overdressed than under IMO) but I love this sequin midi dress! I suggest sticking to a neutral, plain color to look right with your robe (unless you’re wearing navy- no mixing black with navy PLS). Comes in more colors!

Adrianna Papell V-Back Foldover Collar Short Sleeve Sheath Dress

Talk about a good classic. This dress is so perfectly chic and appropriate for the occasion. I love how it comes in several neutral colors and can honestly be dressed up or down.

Tiffany One Shoulder Midi Dress

Sleek and hugs your figure well. Super flattering! The reviews on this dress are so good and they have more colors. On sale, too!

This dress is super feminine and gives me major summer vibes. The fabric and silhouette is perfect for the graduate who loves to twirl!

Scoop Neck Fit & Flare Dress

Another dress by RP that I love! Anything that accentuates the waist is perfect for graduation pictures. Looks flattering on all body types!

For the guest

Last year at my sister’s graduation, I made the horrible mistake of wearing heels and a dress. Her ceremony was what felt like 20 miles away from our car and the wind was insane. So, take if from me when I say avoid the super high heels and check the wind speed before you decide on a dress. :) Nevertheless, we have some cute guest picks for you! These are best paired with a flat, sandal or low heeled shoe.

Marina Beaded Long Sleeve 2-Piece Set

Calling all my modest queens- how perfect is this set?! Comes in several colors but what stuck out to me the most was how fitting and chic it looks. Adding to my cart ASAP. It also comes in a gown form so if you’re looking for something fancier or maybe an after-party dress this one’s for you.

I felt like this dress was more fitting for the guest as opposed to the graduate because of the uneven hem (might look weird under your robe) but it’s cuteee!! I’m all for a dress with plenty of lace detailing. Click here for a similar one but with a symmetrical hem. Love it!

Flower print dress

I am obsessed with this dress. I can’t decide if I love the red or green more but the green is speaking to me lol. Cute, simple and can be worn through the summer! On sale too which is always a bonus.

I love the off-the-shoulder look on this dress! I also think pairing it with strappy sandals is the move because it really elevates the look.

Flowy bow dress

I’m pretty sure we’ve featured this dress on the blog before but that just goes to show how much we LOVE this dress. It’s also super versatile!
