Kids Ramadan Baskets

I remember when we were in elementary school, Ramadan/Eid was around the same time as Christmas. I always loved Christmas time, even though I knew we didn’t celebrate it, because of all the lights and music and decor and traditions. I didn’t feel like we had the same “vibes” for Ramadan, growing up in Texas, you know? My mom did her best to make sure Ramadan and Eid were special for us though - she made us a Ramadan Tree, which was a leafless tree (she didn’t want it to look like a Christmas tree), with little lantern and masbaha ornaments she bought from Jordan. She would wrap presents for us and put them out for Eid, and we would get so excited to open them before going out to breakfast.

I knew that when I had kids, I wanted to start traditions with them as well. Except now, there are so many amazing businesses that sell Ramadan and Eid items! You can even find Ramadan decor at Party City now! On that note, my sister and I thought the market was lacking a bit on matching family pajamas for Ramadan/Eid, so we actually started our own Etsy shop last year to sell pajamas. Our shop is called anewmoon :) We are still working on perfecting and expanding our products, but we love being able to provide something to the growing Ramadan and Eid products market here in the U.S.

Of course, I adopted the Ramadan Tree and presents tradition from my mom, but I am also starting new traditions with my girls. The first one I want to share is their Ramadan Baskets. I started this for their second Ramadan (they were only 1 month old for their first Ramadan), and I get so excited to give them their baskets on the first day each year.

Each year I include books and pajamas, as well as other fun items, but this year’s baskets are my favorite!
